Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club snowboarder Walker Overstake placed fifth in the Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships parallel slalom event in Poland.

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club had representation from two of its athletes earlier this month at the 2025 FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships in Zakopane, Poland.

Walker Overstake, 18, competed on behalf of the U.S. while Sam Carpenter rode for Great Britain. Athletes competed in the men’s parallel giant slalom, parallel slalom and mixed parallel slalom team events.

Having made his World Cup debut earlier this season, Overstake used his competition experience to his advantage, landing a career-best fifth place in the parallel slalom race on March 5. He missed out on a top-four result by just 0.01 seconds in the elimination round of eight.
