Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) snowboard athlete Walker Overstake represented the U.S., and teammate Sam Carpenter represented Great Britain at the 2025 FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships in Zakopane, Poland, March 3-5, 2025. Athletes competed in the men’s parallel giant slalom parallel slalom, and mixed parallel slalom team event.

Overstake used the experience he gained on the World Cup Circuit this season to bring a career-best finish at the event, racing to a 5th place finish in the parallel slalom on March 5. He narrowly missed out on a top-four result when he was eliminated by 0.01 in the elimination round of eight. SSWSC’s Samuel Carpenter finished just two spots behind Overstake in 7th while representing Great Britain.

While disappointed in being so close to the podium in the Junior World Championships, Overstake is excited and motivated for the remainder of the World Cup season and also plans to use this motivation at the 2025 FIS Snowboard | Freestyle | Freeski World Championships in St. Moritz Engadin Switzerland on March 17-30, 2025. Overstake learned he qualified for the Snowboard World Championships on Monday, March 11.
